Team Brookline Raises Over $392,000 for Brookline Nonprofits

Team ranks among top 20 Boston Marathon charity teams

This year, runners from Team Brookline, the Town of Brookline’s official Boston Marathon team, raised a record-breaking $392,000 for the Brookline nonprofits, ranking 20th among all 289 official Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) 2025 charity teams. The 36 Team Brookline runners included 12 athletes fundraising for The Brookline Center, collectively raising over $152,000 to expand access to mental health care.

This year’s top fundraiser for Team Brookline was Brookline Center runner Caroline Fox, who raised over $35,000, setting a new individual fundraising record for the team. She ranked #34 among 2,849 charity runners in the 2025 Boston Marathon.

“This run was personal for me. Three years ago, I had an acute mental health crisis, and I had nowhere to turn,” said Fox. “I realized at that time what a critical issue we have in accessing mental health care services, and I vowed that I would run the Boston Marathon and raise money to improve access to healthcare.”

Team Brookline raises funds and awareness for six local nonprofits: The Brookline Center, Brookline Education Foundation, Brookline Food Pantry, Brookline Library Foundation, Brookline Symphony Orchestra, and Brookline Teen Center. Since its launch, nearly 400 Team Brookline athletes have competed in the Boston Marathon, raising over $3.4 million for our charity partners.

The athletes running the 2025 Boston Marathon and raising funds for The Brookline Center were: Alex Bratton, Amanda Plaza, Caroline Fox, Cathy Rogaski, Emma Gray, Gili Zilberberg, Haley Medeiros, Jackie Middleton, Jenn Oxton, Milo Shieber, Nicole Hacket, and Sara Egan. Additionally, Juliana Safar, Mary Corcoran, and Rachael Schlosberg were general Team Brookline runners whose fundraising also benefited The Brookline Center.

“We are incredibly proud of every runner who showed up for Team Brookline this year,” said Team Brookline Manager Erin Murdock. “Their dedication and impact go far beyond the finish line. Together, they’ve helped ensure local nonprofits can continue vital work across our community.”

Launched in 2012, Team Brookline was the brainchild of Nancy Vineberg, Chief Development Officer at The Brookline Center, who proposed the initiative to the Select Board as a way to unify the Town’s use of Boston Marathon entries. Her “One Town, One Team” vision was to create a town-wide structure that would maximize the impact of the marathon bibs provided annually by the B.A.A., benefiting the entire Brookline community. She has continued to oversee the program since its inception.

“Seeing how far we’ve come—and what our runners achieve year after year—is incredibly rewarding,” said Vineberg.  “It never gets old. Every season brings fresh energy, inspiring athletes, and new ways to make the experience even more meaningful. There’s something magical about it, every single time.”
