Parenting Groups

The Brookline Center offers a few types of groups focused on parenting and caregivers. The groups are each offered multiple times a year.

Being a parent or caregiver is hard work. Our groups are designed to positively impact the entire family—the caregiver(s) are the agents of change. In this program, we want to work with parents/caregivers to think differently about their child(ren), to consider how the whole family is operating, and to improve how they are coping with the experience of parenting. We believe that in some cases, that’s the most impactful intervention for kids!

Circle of Security® Parenting Group (COSP)™

COSP honors caregivers’ innate wisdom and desire to connect well with their child(ren)—and fills in the gaps for the pieces that are not intuitive. This group focuses on teaching caregivers to read their child(ren)’s emotional needs, to support the child(ren)’s ability to manage their emotions, and to strengthen their child(ren)’s self-esteem.

Supportive Parenting of Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE)

SPACE is a parent-based treatment program for children and adolescents with anxiety, OCD, and related problems. SPACE helps parents practice skills of responding supportively to their child’s anxiety and changing their accommodations to their child’s symptoms, ultimately supporting the child in reducing their experience of anxiety.

A child’s anxiety can impact the entire family. SPACE is a targeted intervention that works with parents/caregivers of children and adolescents with anxiety. Come learn this high impact intervention in a cohort of peers who can relate to your family’s experience.

Inside Parenting: A Group to Bring Out the Best in Parents

This group is for caregivers that wish to understand the strengths, needs, and questions they bring into parenting. Inside Parenting uses reflective questions and exercises, group discussion, and peer and therapist support to help bring out the best in parents. What do you want to carry forward from your childhood? What do you want to leave behind? Come talk with others thinking through the same questions.
