Clinical psychologist and healthcare leader takes the helm of nearly 70-year-old community mental health nonprofit.
BROOKLINE, Mass. (Oct. 13, 2026) — The Brookline Center for Community Mental Health has named Dr. Michael Macht-Greenberg its Chief Executive Officer. Macht-Greenberg, a licensed psychologist who most recently served as Chief Operating Officer of McLean Hospital, began his tenure on October 5.
Macht-Greenberg started his career as a clinician working with adolescents and families. He founded the Child, Adolescent, and Family Services program at The Arbour Hospital, then held senior leadership roles at Boston Children’s Hospital and Lahey Hospital & Medical Center. Before becoming McLean’s COO, he directed clinical operations for its Simches Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry—a 320-person portfolio of inpatient, residential, school, and outpatient programs. He holds a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Yeshiva University and an MPH in health care management from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
“Michael understands care from both sides, from years spent working with young people, adults, and families, and from running the systems that make that work possible,” said Kathy Gardner, Chair of The Brookline Center’s Board of Directors. “The Board was unanimous that Michael’s clinical experience and operational expertise make him the right person for the Center’s next chapter.”
Macht-Greenberg said he has long admired the Center.
“It is an honor to lead an organization with such a long-standing reputation for compassionate, high-quality care,” said Dr. Macht-Greenberg. “The Brookline Center has pioneered scalable models that expand mental health access across Massachusetts and in states across the country, while remaining deeply anchored in local community care. I look forward to building on that legacy and guiding the Center into its next chapter.”
Macht-Greenberg succeeds Stephanie Trilling, MSW, LICSW, who has served as Acting CEO since May 2026.
