Charlene Flynn, LMHC
Clinician, Care Coordinator
Charlene Flynn, LMHC, is a licensed mental health counselor at the Brookline Community Mental Health Center. Charlene is part of multidisciplinary teams at the Center for Early Detection, Assessment, and Response to Risk (CEDAR) and the Massachusetts Psychosis Access and Triage Hub (M-PATH). She provides comprehensive assessment and evidence-based psychotherapy at CEDAR as well as clinical consultation and care coordination at M-PATH.
Clinical Interests: Charlene has clinical interests in psychosis, complex trauma, and social justice. Charlene has pre-graduate experience working with adults with serious mental illness at Massachusetts Mental Health Center, and she has post-graduate experience providing psychotherapy and crisis management to young people at McLean Hospital, The Department of Youth Services, and Bridge Over Troubled Waters. In these roles, Charlene has developed a relational therapeutic approach that values trauma-informed and culturally responsive interventions. She also has clinical interests in supporting young people as they navigate self-worth and vulnerabilities including exploitation, suicidal ideation, and community violence.
Academic: Charlene received a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a Trauma Studies Specialization as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from Lesley University. She also holds certifications in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Psychological First Aid.
