Sher Parent Gatherings
Each year, the Center sponsors several lively evening presentations for Brookline parents on a variety of topics of concern. Each gathering consists of a brief talk by senior therapists from the Brookline Community Mental Health Center followed by an interactive discussion.
Recent topics included:
- Balancing Marriage and Parenthood: How Parents Agree and Disagree on Parenting Decisions
- Parenting in the 21st Century: Media Impact on Children, Competitive Expectations, and Parent Peer Pressure
- Balancing Divorce and Being Single with Parenting.
Please visit our News & Events page for more information on the next Sher Parent Gathering.
Community Consultation
Center Staff provide consultation to agencies in the community including the Brookline Housing Authority, Brookline Schools, Brookline Police, Council on Aging, and the Brookline Health Department.
Connecting with Families
Being a parent today too often means more questions than answers. It is hard to find sound advice. That's why the Center has designed a new program specifically for elementary school parents. Thanks to a generous grant from the Klarman Family Foundation, the forum addresses many of the major questions parents have. Recent topics include: Adolescence: Setting Limits With Love; Preventing Burnout: Skills for Families; and The Internet and Other Technologies: Families Striking a Healthy Balance. Forums are free and open to the public.
